Major League Soccer (MLS), the United States' top football league, has been suspended for almost four months. Then, this week the League's official Twitter account announced that it will be returning to American lawns on July 8th.

Beforehand, the championship will make a special tournament for the resumption, that is, changing its format. Named "MLS is Back".

The competition will be divided into four stages: group stage, first playoff stage with 16 clubs, quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. The tournament will feature a total of 26 participating teams.

There will be 54 matches, 39 in the group stage and 15 in the qualifiers, with the final scheduled for August 11th. Until then, the matches will be played at ESPN Wide World of Sports, at the Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

"We are pleased to team up with Disney to relaunch the 2020 MLS season and get back to playing soccer The opportunity to have all 26 clubs in a controlled environment enables  us to help protect the health of our players, coaches and staff as we  return to play." - commented MLS commissioner Don Garber.

In this way, the separation of the groups will be done at the East and West conferences, where the Eastern Conference will have three groups, a group with six teams and two groups with four. On the other hand, the Western Conference will have three groups with four teams.

These are the groups:

GROUP A

Eastern Conference

Orlando City SC
Inter Miami CF
New York City FC
Philadelphia Union
Chicago Fire FC
Nashville SC

GROUP B

Western Conference

Seattle Sounders FC
FC Dallas
Vancouver Whitecaps FC
San Jose Earthquakes

GROUP C

Eastern Conference

Toronto FC
New England Revolution
Montreal Impact
DC United

GROUP D

Western Conference

Real Salt Lake
Sporting Kansas City
Colorado Rapids
Minnesota United FC

GROUP E

Eastern Conference

Atlanta United FC
FC Cincinnati
New York Red Bulls
Columbus Crew SC

GROUP F

Western Conference

LAFC
LA Galaxy
Houston Dynamo
Portland Timbers FC

Understand the format:

The two best teams of each group, together with the four best third placed advance to the next phase (Knockout). Therefore, 16 teams will go through the knockout phase scheduled to start on July 25th.

But we cannot ignore that it will not be only the MLS that will be played in the Wide World of Sports. The NBA had also announced that the resumption of the league would be based at the complex, starting July 31st. With this, the Wide World of Sports becomes even more a place of extreme example for sports.
