This past Friday, FIFA (International Football Federation) formalized the permission for the championships that have already started or are about to start, to implement the rule of five substitutions per team in each game.

The endorsement for the temporary change until the end of the year came from the IFAB (International Board), which will be up to each organization to adopt or not the changes.

According to the information, this change permitted by the IFAB is an amendment to the Rules of the Game and is intended to "protect the well-being of the players", according to FIFA itself. This situation can be of great help to players who will have little time to get back into shape. With more substitutions, you can ease the tiredness of athletes on the field.

Substitutions will be made in such a way that at least two double substitutions will be required for each team in order to use the five substitutions. In case of extension, you can have an extra change in the field, reaching a total of six substitutions.

FIFA intends to close all tournaments that have started or not until the end of the year.
